Director Karthik Subbaraj, who is working on Suriya's next film, has shared an update about the film's title teaser. He revealed that the teaser for Suriya 44 will be released on December 25, Christmas day. The film's shoot was completed in October.

Suriya's most recent project was Kanguva, an action-adventure period drama directed by Siva. The film, based on the theme of reincarnation, received mostly negative reviews from both critics and fans.

Suriya 44 features Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran in significant roles. The film's technical team includes music composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, editor Shafique Mohamed, art director Jackson, action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, and costume designer Praveen Raja. The movie is a collaboration between Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films.
