Dulquer Salmaan Gets Notice Over Food Poisoning Case at Kerala Wedding

Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India: Malayalam film actor Dulquer Salmaan has been issued a notice by the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Pathanamthitta, Kerala. The notice comes in connection with a food poisoning incident linked to Rose Brand Biryani Rice, for which Dulquer serves as the brand ambassador. The actor has also filed a counter-complaint against the rice brand’s owner. Several guests who consumed biryani prepared with Rose Brand rice at a wedding reception in Pathanamthitta reportedly fell ill, prompting the commission to take action.

Reports indicate that Dulquer Salmaan is required to appear before the commission on December 3, 2025. In addition to the actor, the managing director of Rose Brand Biryani Rice and the district manager of Malabar Biryani and Spices have also been summoned.

Incident Details

The episode occurred on August 24, 2025, at a wedding reception in Vallikode, Pathanamthitta district. The catering contractor, P.N., purchased 50 kg of Rose Brand biryani rice for the event. Following the consumption of the biryani, numerous attendees reportedly suffered from vomiting and other symptoms of food poisoning.

An investigation revealed that the rice packaging lacked essential information, including the manufacturing and expiry dates. In his complaint, Jayarajan, the petitioner, alleged that the company failed to comply with the labeling requirements under the Food Products Safety Act. The legal proceedings name the managing director of AK Traders as the primary accused, the district manager of Malabar Biryani Spices in Pathanamthitta as the second accused, and Dulquer Salmaan as the third accused.

As of now, neither Dulquer Salmaan nor representatives of Rose Brand Biryani Rice have made any official statement regarding the case.
