Kollywood is mourning the loss of veteran comedian Robo Shankar, who passed away after a period of illness while receiving treatment in a Chennai hospital. His departure has deeply affected the Tamil film industry.

A devoted fan of Kamal Haasan, Robo Shankar was remembered by the actor on social media: “The robot in your name is just a nickname. You are my brother. You’ve left us, but your work is done, while I still have mine. Tomorrow is ours.”

Robo Shankar’s last rites will be held in Chennai on Friday. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Priyanka, and their daughter, Indraja.
