Popular actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party chief Kamal Haasan is set to receive a political promotion as he prepares to enter the Rajya Sabha. The DMK has conveyed this decision to him, with Minister Sekar Babu personally meeting Kamal Haasan on Wednesday to deliver Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin’s message.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Kamal Haasan’s MNM allied with the DMK, and he actively participated in campaigning. He initially planned to contest against BJP leader Annamalai in Coimbatore but withdrew following Stalin’s advice. Now, with four Rajya Sabha seats set to be vacated in July, CM Stalin has decided to allocate one seat to Kamal Haasan as part of their political agreement.With this development, Kamal Haasan is expected to enter the Rajya Sabha in July 2025, marking a significant step in his political journey.
