Karthi’s ‘Annagaru Vasta’ Release Halted by Madras HC Orders Over Producer’s Dues

Karthi Annagaru Vastaru release delay

Karthi’s upcoming movie Annagaru Vasta has been halted due to financial constraints. Trade insiders in Chennai report that the Madras High Court has issued a directive stating that the film cannot be released until producer Gnanavel Raja clears his outstanding dues.

The film, starring Karthi as the lead and Krithi Shetty as the heroine, is titled Vaa Vathiyar in Tamil and has already faced multiple postponements. It was initially slated for release on December 12, with promotions planned accordingly, Gnanavel Raja confirmed. The Telugu version of the film is titled Annagaru Vasutra, and the movie had generated considerable buzz up to its pre-release events. Both Karthi and Krithi Shetty were actively involved in promoting the film, and just two days ago, the makers shared a special interview featuring young actor Sundeep Kishan. The movie marks the return of director Nalan Kumaraswamy, known for Soodhu Kavvam, after an eight-year gap.

Recently, none of the films produced by Gnanavel Raja have achieved commercial success. Because of these financial challenges, the Telugu-dubbed version of Annagaru Vasta will not hit theaters on December 12. Trade sources reveal that the Madras High Court has instructed that the film can only be released after Gnanavel Raja settles a pending amount of ?21.7 crore. The promotional efforts Karthi has made over the past week now stand in uncertainty. So far, Gnanavel Raja has not issued any official statement regarding the delay of the film.
