Khushboo Reacts to Rumors on Item Song Amid Rajinikanth–Kamal Film Buzz

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is underway in Goa, and actress Khushboo attended the event. During the festival, she recalled a memorable incident involving Kamal Haasan from the time they worked together in the cult Tamil film Michael Madana Kama Rajan. She shared what happened during one of the shooting days.

'I walked onto the set fully prepared…'

Khushboo said,

“I reached the set of Michael Madana Kamarajan completely ready—hair done, eyeshadow perfect, and full makeup. I wasn’t sure if I looked too prepared, but the moment Kamal Haasan saw me, he immediately said, ‘There’s a washroom behind you. Go wash your face.’ I was stunned. For a moment, I felt he might have mistaken me for someone else.”

'Then I understood…'

She added,

“Before I could ask anything, Kamal explained that my character, Shalini, appears without makeup in the film. He wanted the role to look natural. Only then did I understand what he meant. I instantly removed my makeup and returned to shoot the scenes. Kamal was particular about authenticity, and looking back, I understand why.”

The rumor about an item song

Recently, news spread that Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan would be joining hands for a new multistarrer, reportedly to be directed by Khushboo’s husband, Sundar C. However, Sundar C later clarified that he was not part of the project.

Amid this, Khushboo faced online trolling claiming she wanted to perform an 'item song,' which supposedly led to her husband stepping away from the film.

Khushboo hit back strongly:

“No one ever asked me to do any item song. Maybe someone in your family was approached for it,” she replied.

She further stated that Sundar C never withdrew because of story issues and dismissed all such rumors as baseless.

The upcoming Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan film will be produced under Kamal Haasan’s own banner, Raj Kamal Films International.
