Nayanthara Addresses Dhanush Controversy Over Documentary Clip Usage

There has been a controversy between lady superstar Nayanthara and Tamil star actor Dhanush regarding the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. In the documentary, Nayanthara used a three-second clip from the movie Nenu Rowdy Ne without permission, which led Dhanush to issue a legal notice to her. Responding to this, Nayanthara released an open letter criticizing Dhanush. Recently, during an interview, she was asked about her courage to release such a letter against Dhanush, to which she explained the reasons behind her actions.

In the interview, Nayanthara responded, saying, "If I make a mistake, I should be afraid. But if I believe something is right, why should I be afraid to speak out? I’m not the kind of person who damages the reputation of others for publicity. People are saying I did this for publicity, but that's not true. We tried multiple times to contact Dhanush and his team for the NOC (No Objection Certificate) for the video clips used in the documentary, but we didn’t get any response. Even our common friends tried contacting him, but there was no reply. We wanted to use a four-line dialogue from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan because it was important in our lives."

Nayanthara also shared that there was no animosity between them before, and Dhanush had been a good friend to her. She wondered why Dhanush was angry with her and why he was upset with her and her team. She tried to reach out to him to understand the situation but could not. She also mentioned that the controversy began because Dhanush did not give permission for the clips of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan to be used in the documentary, despite several attempts by the makers. This led to a legal notice demanding compensation for the unauthorized use of the footage.
