Netflix reportedly paid a huge sum for Nayanthara's documentary titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, which is streaming from the 18th of this month. However, a controversy has arisen over an off-screen clipping from the Naane Varuvean movie. Tamil star Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara, demanding ₹10 crore in compensation. Nayanthara expressed her anger over this, stating that while Dhanush comes from a film background, she has reached her current position through immense hard work. She questioned the demand, saying, "What is ₹10 crore for a three-second video?" Nayanthara clarified that they waited for Dhanush's approval for several days but decided to handle the issue legally after receiving the notice.

Nayanthara further revealed her struggles in the documentary, discussing her first film opportunity, her family, and the body-shaming she endured during the filming of Ghajini. She opened up about the pain it caused her and shared insights about her iconic bikini scene in Billa, the criticisms she faced while working on Sri Rama Rajyam, and her decision to take a break from films afterward. She also spoke about her first Tamil film producer, her work with Rana, Nagarjuna, and the technicians of Sri Rama Rajyam. Additionally, she mentioned her collaborations with director Atlee and several others.

The documentary has become a topic of discussion. While the first half received mixed responses, the second half has been praised for its impactful scenes. However, some viewers felt that certain parts did not work well. Reports suggest that Netflix purchased the documentary for ₹20–30 crore, but the exact amount remains unconfirmed. Netflix has not disclosed how much it paid for the documentary so far.
