It is well known that a documentary about Lady Superstar Nayanthara’s life and love story is streaming on the OTT platform Netflix. However, the documentary has sparked a major controversy. Producer Dhanush has issued a legal notice worth Rs. 10 crore for using a 3-second video from the 2015 film Nanum Rowdy Dhan in the documentary. Nayanthara had been requesting Dhanush for permission to use certain songs and videos from Nanum Rowdy Dhan for the past two years but did not receive any response. As a result, she ended up using a 3-second video recorded on her private mobile phone during the shooting of the set in her documentary. Following this, Dhanush issued a legal notice to her.

In response to Dhanush’s legal notice, Nayanthara strongly criticized him. She released an open letter on social media, accusing him of wrongdoing. However, Dhanush shocked Nayanthara once again by issuing a 24-hour ultimatum through his lawyers. His lawyer warned, "By using my client’s content from Nanum Rowdy Dhan in the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, you have violated copyright laws. You must remove the content within 24 hours, or my client will take legal action. This will not only involve a Rs. 10 crore compensation from your company and Netflix, but more consequences as well."

Regarding the mobile phone footage mentioned in Nayanthara’s open letter, Dhanush’s lawyer clarified, “My client is the producer of the film, and he knows where every penny was spent on the movie. He did not authorize anyone to film behind-the-scenes footage. All the accusations you made are false.” Meanwhile, Nayanthara is receiving support from film stars, while Dhanush’s fans are backing him in this matter.
