Actress Nayanthara's new film Mookuthi Amman 2 was officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony in Chennai. The event, held on a massive set, was attended by director Sundar C., along with actresses Nayanthara, Meena, Khushbu, and Regina. Several videos from the ceremony have gone viral on social media. Fans were particularly surprised as Nayanthara, who usually avoids movie launch events and promotions, made an unexpected appearance and was seen offering prayers. This led to discussions online, with netizens questioning, "Is this really Nayanthara? What’s new?"

Nayanthara made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Manassinakkare and has had a successful career spanning over 22 years, starring in numerous films. Despite her extensive filmography, she has always remained distant from promotional activities. It is said that she informs her team in advance that she will not participate in promotions even after signing a project. Given this, her sudden presence at the pooja ceremony has now become a viral topic across the industry and among fans.

Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji, featured Nayanthara in the divine role of Goddess Amman and was well-received upon its release in 2020. The film was also released in Telugu as Ammoru Thalli. Now, the sequel Mookuthi Amman 2 is in the making. Producer Ganesh revealed that director Sundar C. prepared the script in just 30 days and described it as a unique story he hadn’t heard in recent times. Nayanthara will once again portray the role of Goddess Amman and has reportedly been fasting for a month in preparation. The film is being made as a pan-India project with a massive budget of ₹100 crore.
