Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyan' Faces Petition To Mute Dialogues After Censorship

Vettaiyan petition mute dialogues

Rajinikanth's upcoming action film, 'Vettaiyan', is set to release on October 10, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, and others, with a storyline centered around encounter killings. The film has received a U/A certification and runs for 2 hours, and 43 minutes.

On October 4, a public interest petition was filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, requesting the removal or muting of certain dialogues. The petitioner, K Palanivelu, argues that phrases like "renowned encounter specialist" and "encounters are not just punishment by preventive action" glorify extrajudicial killings. He has urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to halt the film's screening until these changes are made. The court has admitted the petition and issued a notice.
