Rajinikanth Unaware Of Hema Committee Report Amid Tamil Cinema Discussions

Superstar Rajinikanth recently acknowledged his lack of knowledge about the Hema Committee report, which has highlighted sexual harassment and other issues within the Malayalam film industry. His comments came as discussions heated up about establishing a similar committee in Tamil cinema.

At the Chennai International Airport, Rajinikanth was asked about the possibility of a Tamil Nadu panel like Kerala’s Hema Committee. With a puzzled expression, he responded, "What?"I'm afraid I don't know much about it," he remarked.

Earlier, Tamil actor Jiiva dismissed the relevance of the Hema Committee’s findings to Tamil cinema, suggesting such problems were specific to Malayalam films.

The Hema Committee, formed by the Kerala government following a 2017 actress assault case, revealed widespread harassment and led to the resignation of Mohanlal and other AMMA members. As calls for similar scrutiny grow in Tamil Nadu, Rajinikanth’s lack of awareness underscores the ongoing challenges in addressing these issues across regional film industries.
