The Tamil Nadu government has authorized a special 9 AM show for Viduthalai Part 2 on December 20, allowing up to five screenings for one day, with strict guidelines on hygiene and crowd management.

The Tamil Nadu government, on Thursday, issued a Government Order (GO) permitting one special show for director Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part 2 on the film's release date, December 20.The GO specifies that the state government allows the screening of one special show of Viduthalai Part 2 on December 20 at 9 AM. It further mentions that theatres in Tamil Nadu can run a maximum of five shows of the film for just one day, with the last show concluding by 2 AM.
The government has instructed the Commissioner of Revenue Administration and the Additional Chief Secretary to ensure that no theatre is affected by poor hygiene and crowd management due to the extra show.Viduthalai Part 2, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, is a sequel to the 2023 social drama Viduthalai. The story revolves around Kumaresan (Soori), a newly recruited constable, who struggles with his conscience and sense of duty as he chases after the revolutionary outlaw, Perumal Vaathiyaar (Vijay Sethupathi). While the first installment ends with Kumaresan capturing Perumal, the second part is expected to focus on the events following the arrest, Perumal’s past, and why he chose his revolutionary path.
The first part received positive reviews and is considered one of the most hard-hitting films in Tamil cinema. While most of the second part was shot during the production of the first part, the remaining filming and extensive post-production work delayed its release after Part 1’s success. Viduthalai Part 2 will also feature Chethan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, and Munnar Ramesh reprising their roles from the first film.On the technical side, Viduthalai Part 2 has cinematography by R. Velraj and editing by R Ramar.Produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner and Vetrimaaran's Grass Root Film Company, the film was also showcased at the Rotterdam Film Festival previously.
