Vijay Feels for Jana Nayagan Producer Amid CBFC Row, Draws Inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan
Actor Vijay, who is making a full-fledged transition into politics through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has reiterated that he has decided to step away from cinema to focus on his political future. However, the actor has expressed concern over the delay faced by his final film Jana Nayagan, which remains stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan was expected to mark Vijay’s last on-screen appearance before contesting the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. In an interview with NDTV, the actor conveyed that while he is mentally prepared for political challenges, he feels deeply for the producer who continues to suffer due to the film’s stalled release.
NDTV Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal, who interacted with Vijay off-camera for nearly an hour, shared that the actor appeared resolute and focused. He stated that Vijay has fully accepted the possibility that his films could face obstacles due to his political entry and has already come to terms with such consequences.
Vijay also revealed that he has been preparing for his political journey since the post-COVID period. He described the Karur tragedy as a deeply unsettling incident that continues to haunt him and has further strengthened his resolve to work in public life.
Interestingly, as he steps into politics, Vijay has cited Shah Rukh Khan as a personal inspiration, particularly admiring his articulation and public speaking skills. He also acknowledged former Tamil Nadu stalwarts M G Ramachandran, J Jayalalithaa, and M Karunanidhi as enduring role models who successfully bridged cinema and politics.
