Vijay's 69th film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, has officially started production following a pooja ceremony attended by the cast and crew, including Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Narain, and Mamitha Baiju, along with director H Vinoth and producer Venkat K Narayana.

This film marks the first collaboration for Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Mamitha, and Narain with Vijay. Thalapathy 69 brings Vijay back together with Prakash Raj, following Varisu; Pooja Hegde, after Beast; and Gautham Vasudev Menon, after Leo.

Anirudh Ravichander is on board as the music composer, with more technical crew announcements expected soon. The film is reportedly a political drama, as suggested by its tagline, "torch bearer of democracy."

Recently, Vijay confirmed his entry into politics, launching his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and indicated plans to retire from acting after this film to focus on his political career.
