The movie 23, inspired by real-life events, has now been released on OTT. It revolves around the major incidents that occurred in the Telugu states, including the Chilakaluripeta and Chunduru massacres, as well as the Jubilee Hills car bomb explosion. Originally released in theatres on May 16, the film was made available to international audiences on Amazon Prime and is now also accessible to viewers in India.
Helmed by Raj, known for his debut film Mallesam, this movie stars Teja and Tanmayi in the lead roles. The project is produced by Studio 99 and presented under the banner of Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Interestingly, the film is set to begin streaming on Amazon Prime in India starting June 27.
The film highlights three shocking incidents: the 1991 Chunduru massacre in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, the 1993 bus burning in Chilakaluripeta, and the 1997 car bomb blast in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Despite the different times and locations, the lives lost in all three tragedies share a common thread. 23 explores the aftermath and seeks to uncover the truth behind the perpetrators of these crimes. The film also raises an important question about the judiciary — why do punishments vary even when the crimes committed are similar?
