Akhanda 2 Ticket Price Hike Faces Court Challenge, Balakrishna Gets New Shock

Akhanda 2 Ticket Price Hike

Tollywood superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming film Akhanda 2 is now facing another hurdle. A petition has been submitted in the Telangana High Court opposing the recent surge in movie ticket prices.

Hyderabad: A legal challenge has been raised in the Telangana High Court against the increased ticket rates for Akhanda 2. Advocate Srinivas Reddy filed a petition requesting the annulment of the government order (GO) that permitted the price hike. The court has accepted the motion and will examine both the ticket pricing and the organization of special screenings.

Reports indicate that the Revanth Reddy-led government had authorized the increase in ticket prices for Akhanda 2: Tandavam. The price adjustments are allowed between December 12 and 14. Single-screen cinemas can now charge Rs 50 extra, while multiplexes can raise ticket costs by Rs 100. The premiere show on December 11 had already set its tickets at Rs 600, which was previously considered acceptable.

However, the government imposed certain conditions on the filmmakers while approving the increase. The court has also instructed that 20% of the additional revenue generated from the ticket price hike should be allocated for the welfare of film industry workers.
