Atlee Defends Talent Over Looks After Kapil Sharma's Comments

Comments made by Bollywood comedian Kapil Sharma about Tamil director Atlee’s looks have sparked controversy. Atlee, who gained recognition with the hit film Raja Rani and later with MerSel, recently achieved a blockbuster success with Jawan, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Atlee is now working on his upcoming film Baby John, a remake of Vijay’s Theri, featuring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamika Gabbi. The movie is set to release on December 20.

During the promotions of Baby John, Atlee’s team had an unpleasant experience on The Kapil Sharma Show. While on the show, Kapil asked Atlee, “When you go to narrate a story to a star hero, do they ever ask ‘Where is Atlee?’” Atlee understood the meaning behind this question and responded in his own style.

Atlee explained, “I understood why I was being asked this question, and I have only one answer. When we have talent, how we look doesn't matter. I must first thank director A.R. Murugadoss, who produced Raja Rani. When I approached him with the story of Raja Rani, he only saw the story and not how I looked. So, the world should judge us by our work, not by our looks.” Netizens are reacting strongly to Kapil Sharma’s comments about Atlee’s appearance, and the video of the incident has gone viral.
