Brahmin Groups Oppose Kannappa Movie Ahead of Release

Kannappa, the dream project of Manchu Vishnu, continues to face hurdles ahead of its release on June 27. Recently, Brahmin organizations have warned that they will oppose the film. They are angry over the portrayal of the character "Pilaka Gilaka" in the movie. A pre-release event for Kannappa is scheduled today (Saturday) in Guntur, and Brahmin associations have threatened to block it. Sridhar, President of Brahmana Chaitanya Vedika, also released a statement regarding this matter.

Sridhar alleged that insulting Brahmins has become a habit for the Manchu Mohan Babu family. He stated that this isn't the first time they've portrayed Brahmins in a negative light. He demanded clarity on the "Pilaka Gilaka" character during today’s pre-release event. If not, they would approach the court to halt the film’s release. Sridhar strongly urged the Manchu family to stop producing such controversial roles that hurt Brahmin sentiments. Notably, the character was introduced in September last year, featuring comedians Brahmanandam and Saptagiri. The poster included satirical dialogues that Brahmin groups claim insult their beliefs.

Meanwhile, the final copy of the ‘Kannappa’ movie has reportedly satisfied both Manchu Mohan Babu and Manchu Vishnu. They watched the completed version at Prasad Labs and expressed satisfaction. The trailer launch event is expected soon, and actor Prabhas is rumored to attend. The pre-release event is said to be held in Bheemavaram village in Andhra Pradesh. The movie features major stars including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, and Akshay Kumar in key roles.
