Music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), known for his energetic performances, had planned to perform a live concert in Visakhapatnam as part of his India tour. The concert was set to take place on the 19th of this month, following successful performances in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. However, the Visakhapatnam police denied permission for the event due to security concerns, despite the organizers having made arrangements for the concert at the Vishwanath Sports Club in Port Stadium. The police stated that they could not grant permission due to the security situation in the area.
The organizers had initially submitted a request for permission on the 7th of this month, but a tragic incident occurred at the same Vishwanath Sports Club when a young boy named Rishi drowned in the Aqua World area. Following this, the authorities focused on reviewing the security measures in place at the venue. Despite the concert and the area where the accident occurred being separate, the police raised concerns over the large number of attendees expected for the event, as well as the shared pathways to the stadium. As a result, the police concluded that the venue was not equipped with the necessary facilities to ensure the safety of the crowd, ultimately denying permission for the event.
In response, the event organizers requested the police to reconsider their decision, noting that extensive preparations had already been made, and tickets for the event were being sold online. The police outlined specific conditions, such as ensuring proper entry and exit for the public, vehicle parking, fire safety, CCTV cameras, and ambulances at the venue. The authorities stated that if these conditions were met, they would be willing to grant permission. The organizers are now working to meet these conditions, as the event has generated significant public interest and discussions on social media.
