Director Sabhapathi, Known for Chiranjeevi's Anji, Passes Away at 61
Senior Tamil director Sabhapathi, who passed away at 61 due to health issues, was initially set to direct Anji with Chiranjeevi and made notable contributions to Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Over the past month, several deaths have occurred in the film industry, including Malayalam senior actress Meena, actress Bhanu Sri Mehra's brother, legendary director Shyam Benegal, and Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair. Recently, another senior director has passed away.
Famous Tamil director Sabhapathi passed away last night at the age of 61 due to health issues. In addition to Tamil, he directed a film in Telugu and one in Kannada. He directed 8 films in Tamil. His death has left the Tamil film industry in mourning, with several film personalities paying tribute.
Sabhapathi's last film was Jolly Boy in Kannada in 2011, after which he stayed away from filmmaking. Initially, Sabhapathi was supposed to direct Anji, starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the project was handed over to Kodi Ramakrishna. He also introduced actress Simran to the film industry and directed the movie Pande with Jagapati Babu in Telugu. His films in Tamil were successful and well-received.
