Disha Patani's father, Jagdish Singh Patani, has fallen victim to a gang that cheated him out of ₹25 lakh. The incident took place in Bareilly, where he resides. Jagdish Patani, a retired Deputy SP, was deceived by a group of five people who promised him a high-ranking position in the government commission. The police have filed a case in connection with the fraud.
The police have registered cheating and intimidation charges against Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayprakash, and Preeti Garg. Kotwali police station in-charge, DK Sharma, stated that the accused would be arrested, and legal action would be taken. Shivendra Pratap Singh introduced Disha Patani's father to a gang, claiming they had connections with high-ranking government officials and promised to secure him a position as chairman, vice-chairman, or any other prominent government post.
Once Jagdish Patani trusted them, the gang collected ₹25 lakh from him, including ₹5 lakh in cash and another ₹20 lakh transferred to their bank accounts. They assured him that if no benefits were delivered, they would return the money with interest within three months. However, when the gang began demanding more money, they started to intimidate him. Realizing he had been defrauded, Disha Patani's father filed a complaint with the police.
