It was claimed that her father had served in the Pakistan Army and had retired. In the wake of a terrorist attack, she faced criticism for being a Pakistani actress. Some people even asked her to clarify her stance on social media.

In response, Imanvi took to social media to clear the air. She condemned the violence, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the attack. She also addressed the false rumors about her identity, stating that there were no ties to the Pakistan military in her family. She called out trolls and certain media outlets for spreading false information without proper research.

Imanvi further clarified that she is an Indo-American, born in Los Angeles. She is fluent in Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, and English. Her parents moved to California while they were young and became U.S. citizens. She completed her education in America and worked as a choreographer before entering the Indian film industry. She emphasized her deep-rooted Indian heritage and culture, expressing hope to use the platform for unity, not division, especially in such times, promoting love and spreading her Indian legacy.
