Is SSMB 29 Really Titled Varanasi? Heres the Truth

There is no truth to the rumors claiming that SSMB 29 has been titled Varanasi.

The much-awaited film SSMB 29, featuring Superstar Mahesh Babu and directed by SS Rajamouli, has kept not just Tollywood fans but audiences worldwide eagerly waiting. Despite the massive buzz, Rajamouli has not made any official announcement or shared updates about the film for nearly two years. Occasionally, minor details surface from the shooting sets, and recently, leaked videos showing Mahesh Babu’s new look have taken social media by storm.

Since production began, the film’s title has been the subject of continuous speculation. Initially, it was rumored to be titled Garuda. Later, another report claimed that Varanasi had been finalized. Some even suggested that Mahesh Babu was working on edits under that name.

Adding to the confusion, a late-night Twitter exchange involving Mahesh Babu, Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran created a sensation online. Fans assumed an official update would drop soon, possibly confirming Varanasi as the title. There was speculation that the title would be unveiled at an event named “Globetrotter,” scheduled for November 15.

However, fresh reports have now clarified that the movie is not titled Varanasi. Interestingly, a smaller film recently released a poster with that title, surprising Mahesh Babu’s fans. This confirmed that Rajamouli had not registered the title “Varanasi” for his project.

With this revelation, fans of Mahesh Babu can finally relax — the global project directed by Rajamouli will carry a completely different title. Everyone is now eager to see what unique name the makers will officially announce.
