Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood actress and MP, who directed the film Emergency, which is based on the political life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, shared several insights about the film. Kangana revealed that she told Priyanka Gandhi, the granddaughter of Indira Gandhi, to watch the film when they met in Parliament. Priyanka responded that she would try to watch it. Kangana expressed her belief that Priyanka would like the film, which portrays a sensitive issue. Kangana also emphasized that she had depicted Indira Gandhi's character respectfully and with great care.
Kangana welcomed the censor board's decision regarding the film. She mentioned that the primary aim of making Emergency was to show the events of that time from the people's perspective. She also shared that she was very happy with the full version of the film and initially wanted to show it in its entirety to the audience. However, due to recent developments, certain cuts were made by the censor board. Despite this, Kangana clarified that the movie wasn’t made to criticize anyone, and the story and message were unaffected by the cuts.
Anupam Kher, who plays the role of Jayaprakash Narayan in the film, commented on the extensive research Kangana did for the movie. He stated that he didn't do much research for his role, but Kangana thoroughly researched everything. He also expressed his belief that Emergency is one of the best political films ever made. He urged viewers to watch the film, setting aside any controversies surrounding it. Emergency is a film about the political life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, starring Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, and Mahima Chaudhary in key roles. Initially scheduled for release on September 6, the film faced a delay due to a legal challenge from a group that objected to the way it portrayed certain events. Following a court review, the censor board made several changes, removing scenes that could lead to controversy.
