Karate Kalyani Supports Shivaji Remarks, Sparks Debate on Tradition and Dressing

Actor Shivaji’s statements regarding the attire worn by heroines have triggered widespread discussion and criticism across social media platforms. Amid this ongoing controversy, actress Karate Kalyani has come forward to share her perspective. Her public remarks, made at an event in support of Shivaji, have added a fresh dimension to the debate.

Karate Kalyani stated that although Shivaji’s choice of words may appear inappropriate to some, his intention is being misunderstood. Expressing her support, she said that women in India already command great respect and dignity. According to her, traditional clothing reflects the nation’s cultural identity, and Indian women are admired globally for this reason. She emphasized that while Shivaji’s expression could have been different, the underlying message should not be viewed negatively. She also criticized the way a single comment by the actor was amplified and turned into a major controversy.

She further questioned why similar language used earlier in the song “Chikiri Chikiri” did not attract objections. Raising a pointed query, she asked why singer Chinmayi did not demand changes to those lyrics or voice her concerns on social media at that time. Karate Kalyani also made strong observations about clothing choices, stating that while dressing can be a matter of personal taste, cultural awareness still plays a role. She cited the example of Anasuya, questioning why she chose to wear a silk saree instead of modern attire at her son’s Odugu ceremony, noting that this shows an understanding of traditions and customs.

Concerns About Youth Behavior and Social Change

Addressing broader social issues, Karate Kalyani expressed concern over changing values and the influence on younger generations. She said that individuals who have grown within the film industry should act as role models. According to her, working in cinema does not require revealing performances, and elegance can be maintained even in traditional attire like sarees. She stressed that public figures should carry a sense of responsibility, especially when their actions influence society.

Referring to her recent social media post about actress Nidhhi Agerwal’s outfit, Karate Kalyani voiced worry about evolving social norms and the habits developing among youth. Her comments quickly spread online, reigniting discussions around cultural traditions, personal freedom, and societal responsibility.
