Nithya Menon Explains Why She Didn't Do the Jayalalithaa Biopic

Nithya Menen recently spoke about her decision not to do the Jayalalithaa biopic. In 2019, it was announced that Nithya Menen would play the role of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a biopic directed by Priyadarshini, titled The Iron Lady. A poster for the movie was unveiled as well. However, five years later, there has been no update on the project, and Nithya Menen shared her thoughts on why the film was shelved.

Nithya Menen mentioned that after the announcement of the biopic, another film titled Thalaivi was released with the same storyline. She felt that if she pursued the project, it would be a repetition. Additionally, a web series titled Queen also came out. After the release of two projects with similar stories, she decided to drop the biopic idea to avoid repetition. Her father had encouraged her to act in the film, but ultimately, she chose not to proceed with it.

In a recent interview, Nithya Menen also discussed her career in the film industry. She expressed that she doesn't have a strong desire to continue in cinema and would prefer a peaceful life without pressure. Though she once considered shifting to another field, winning a National Award for Best Actress changed her perspective. The recognition helped her find direction in life and gave her a sense of achievement. Her latest film, Kadhalikka Neramillai, with Jayam Ravi, received mixed responses at the box office. She is also working on Idli Kadai, directed by Dhanush.
