Padma Awards 2025: Honoring National Excellence

The Padma Awards ceremony was held grandly on Tuesday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital, Delhi. The central government had recently announced the awards for individuals who have rendered exceptional services in various fields. This year, on the occasion of Republic Day, seven individuals were announced for the Padma Vibhushan, 19 for the Padma Bhushan, and 113 for the Padma Shri awards. A total of 71 recipients, including Dr. Nageshwar Reddy and actor Balakrishna, received their awards.

Recently, the remaining awardees were also presented with their honors by President Droupadi Murmu. From the field of arts, actress Dr. Shobana Chandrakumar received the Padma Bhushan award from the President. MRPS President Manda Krishna received the Padma Shri. From Andhra Pradesh, Veeraghavendraacharya Panchamukhi and Professor K.L. Krishna were awarded the Padma Shri. Kannada actor Anant Nag received the Padma Bhushan. In recognition of her contributions to social service, Sadhvi Rithambara was honored with the Padma Bhushan, and musician Ricky Kej received the Padma Shri from the President. Former Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to public affairs.

Singer Sharada Sinha was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, which was received by her son on her behalf. In the field of arts, Kumudini Lakhia (posthumously) was also honored with the Padma Vibhushan, accepted by her grandson. Bibek Debroy was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to literature and education, with his wife receiving the award on his behalf. The event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Kishan Reddy, Dharmendra Prasad, and several other dignitaries.
