Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR Privacy Case: Delhi HC Orders IP Login Details

The Delhi High Court has passed a significant directive concerning the privacy protections of Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR. The court ordered that information related to IP addresses involved in unauthorized activity on social media must be shared within a three-week timeframe.

Issuing detailed instructions on the personal rights of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan, along with senior film star Jr NTR, the court instructed the relevant social media companies to submit IP login data within three weeks to address alleged violations of their privacy.

Both individuals approached the High Court claiming that their images and video content were circulated online for commercial gain without consent and that misleading material was being spread, causing harm to their personal rights. Major digital platforms, including Flipkart, Amazon, Google, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, were listed as respondents in the case.

The petitions were taken up again for consideration by a bench led by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora on Monday. Legal representatives for the respondent platforms informed the court that certain links had already been taken down in compliance with earlier directions. However, counsel representing Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR stated that only a limited number of links were removed, while several others continued to remain accessible.

The court observed that the respondents must clarify why the remaining content was not removed and reiterated its order directing submission of the related IP login information within three weeks. The matter has been scheduled for further hearing on May 12.

It was also noted that several film industry professionals and public figures had earlier approached the same court seeking safeguards for their privacy and publicity rights, and they were granted temporary relief.
