Ram Gopal Varma Goes Into Hiding as AP Police Intensify Search for Him

Film director Ram Gopal Varma has gone into hiding, and Andhra Pradesh police are intensively searching for him. They suspect that he may be in Hyderabad or Tamil Nadu, and are conducting search operations in both locations with teams in each. Meanwhile, the police are examining his call data, suspecting that a film hero might be providing shelter to him. They have reportedly identified that Varma had spoken to this hero on the phone. This has sparked discussions in both political and film circles about who the hero might be. The police are also seeking assistance from Chennai and Mumbai police to locate him and are preparing to issue lookout notices to prevent him from leaving the country.

Despite two notices being served for questioning, Ram Gopal Varma failed to appear, prompting Prakasam district police to visit his residence in Hyderabad on Monday. There was a rumor that he would be arrested, but upon learning that Varma wasn't at home, the police spoke with his personal assistant and office manager. They were instructed to find out Varma’s location, but the police suspected he was deliberately misleading them, as his phone had been switched off. As a result, special teams were formed to search for him in both Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu.

Before the Andhra Pradesh state elections, Ram Gopal Varma had made controversial posts on social media targeting leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh. Following the victory of the NDA alliance, a case was filed against him at the Maddipadu police station last month. Subsequently, Ongole Rural police served a notice at his Hyderabad residence, asking him to appear for questioning on November 19. Varma filed a petition in the High Court to quash the case, but the court rejected it. He informed the police that he would appear for questioning a week later. However, when he failed to respond on the scheduled date, the police went to his house in Hyderabad to arrest him.
