Ram Gopal Varma Sentenced to 3 Months in Jail for 2018 Cheque Bounce Case

Ram Gopal Varma Sentenced to 3 Months in Jail

Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma has received a big shock. In a case from four years ago, the Andheri Magistrate Court in Mumbai delivered a sensational verdict. The court found him guilty in this case and sentenced him to three months of imprisonment.

The cheque bounce case against Ram Gopal Varma was filed in 2018. A person named Mahesh Chandra Mishra, representing a company named Shri, had filed a complaint with the police against Varma. Since then, the case had been under investigation, but Varma failed to appear in court even once. This led to the court issuing a non-bailable warrant against him.

The court has ordered Varma to pay a compensation of ₹3.72 lakh to the complainant within the next three months. Otherwise, he will have to undergo three months of regular jail sentence, as per the Magistrate's ruling.
