Ram Pothineni reacts to dating rumours with Bhagyashree Borse in interview

Ram Pothineni’s upcoming film Andhra King Taluka, directed by P. Mahesh Babu, is gearing up for release on November 27. In the movie, Ram appears as a devoted fan of a star hero. While promoting the film, the actor opened up about several interesting experiences and addressed rumors surrounding his personal life.

Dating rumors began after the song

Bhagyashree Borse plays the female lead opposite Ram in this film. Since the early days of shooting, speculation has been circulating that the two are in a relationship. In a recent interview, Ram gave clarity about these rumors.

He said, “I wrote a romantic song for this film, and from that moment, the gossip started. People assumed I must be in love to write such deep emotions. But the truth is, I created the lyrics based on the characters of the hero and heroine. Interestingly, when the song was written, we still hadn’t finalized the actual heroine.”

A moment he will never forget

Ram also shared his memories of growing up in Chennai and his admiration for Superstar Rajinikanth. He recalled, “I’ve been a huge Rajinikanth fan since childhood. I distinctly remember the craze for Baasha. Even on its 100th day, I couldn’t find tickets. Luckily, I managed to get two tickets at the last minute and went with a friend. The atmosphere in the theatre stunned me—fans were celebrating as if watching it for the first time, even though they already knew every dialogue. Their enthusiasm was unbelievable.”

The mystery behind an old tag

Ram revealed that early in his career, fans labeled him with a tag—one that came even before the popular “Chocolate Boy” title. He said posters of his first few films even carried it.

“I felt embarrassed and told everyone I didn’t want that tag,” he said. “Later, another actor ended up taking that same tag. I cannot reveal what it was now.”

His formula for success

Speaking about his career philosophy, Ram said, “Success depends mainly on two things—being fully focused and working with the belief that you were born to do it. I possess both qualities. That’s why I trust that success will always remain with me.”

His take on ‘Double iSmart’ failure

Ram openly discussed his film Double iSmart, which failed to meet expectations.

“The story was very strong, but the output didn’t match what we had planned. Although it had a lot of emotion, the audience didn’t connect to it. That’s why it didn’t achieve the expected success,” he said.
