Sri Reddy Apologizes to TDP Leaders Following Defamation Case

Sri Reddy issued an open letter apologizing to TDP leader Nara Lokesh and his family on Thursday. The Rajamahendravaram city police filed a case against the actor and YSR Congress Party supporter, citing alleged defamatory content she posted on social media targeting prominent political figures. The case, registered under the Information Technology Act, 2000, includes accusations of defamatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan before the 2024 general elections.

In her letter, Reddy acknowledged her past criticism and expressed regret. She stated, "I have been harsh in my words multiple times, and I apologize once again. If you review the comments I made in the past ten days, you will realize how many people's feelings I have hurt."I made a shameful mistake. My apologies to Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, their family members, the Home Minister, Andhra Jyoti, ITDP, TDP activists, social media, Janasena media, social media, and Pawan Kalyan. Please forgive this Telugu daughter.”

The case originated from a complaint by TDP supporter Majji Padma, filed at the Bommuru police station. The allegations focus on Sri Reddy's history of social media comments in support of YSRCP and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, while sharply criticizing leaders from the opposition, including TDP, Janasena, and BJP. TDP general secretary Majji Padma stated that Sri Reddy's comments were abusive and largely unaddressed during the YSRCP government’s tenure, calling for her immediate arrest.
