Telangana Government Announces Gaddar Awards to Honor Best Films

The Telangana government had earlier announced the launch of the prestigious ‘Gaddar Awards’ from this year’s Ugadi festival. However, due to unforeseen reasons, the ceremony has been rescheduled to the first week of April. The Film Development Corporation has recently provided clarity on this matter, confirming that awards will be given to the best films released from 2014 (when Telangana was formed) to 2023. The government has finalized the award guidelines and will start accepting applications from March 13.

The awards will recognize not only actors and directors but also technical experts and films that promote unity, cultural education, social justice, national integration, children's cinema, environmental awareness, heritage, and historical themes. Additionally, awards will be presented for debut feature films, animation films, documentaries, and short films. The government also plans to honor authors who have written books and analyses on Telugu cinema, as well as actors and technicians who have contributed significantly to the industry.

In a special category, the Telangana government has decided to present awards in the names of legendary actors Paidi Jayaraj and Kanta Rao for their exceptional contributions to the Telugu film industry. These awards aim to celebrate and acknowledge outstanding achievements in cinema and related fields.
