Thandel OTT Release: Naga Chaitanya
Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s film Thandel created a sensation at the box office, collecting over ₹100 crore and becoming the first ₹100 crore film in Naga Chaitanya’s career. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Allu Aravind under the Geetha Arts banner, the film captivated audiences in theaters and is now set for its OTT release. Netflix has officially announced that Thandel will start streaming on March 7 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The film revolves around Raju (Naga Chaitanya) and Satya (Sai Pallavi), a couple from Matsyalesham village in Srikakulam district. Both come from fishing families and grew up together, deeply in love. While Raju often goes on long fishing trips, Satya waits for him, living with his memories. His courage, integrity, and leadership qualities make him a guiding force (Thandel) for their fishing community. However, when Satya sees fellow fishermen losing their lives at sea, she becomes anxious and tries to convince Raju to quit fishing. But Raju, bound by duty, refuses to listen. Heartbroken, Satya decides to move on and prepares for marriage with someone else.
Tragedy strikes when Raju and his team, caught in a storm during a fishing expedition, unknowingly drift into Pakistan’s waters and get captured by the Pakistan Navy. The entire village of Matsyalesham is devastated, and Satya is left in shock. How will Raju and his men escape from Karachi Central Jail? Did Satya go ahead with her marriage? What struggles did she face in trying to bring Raju back? And did their love story have a happy ending or a tragic fate? The rest of the film unfolds the answers to these questions.
