Tollywood Piracy Accused Arrested Under Copyright And IT Acts
Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police arrest a key accused in a major Tollywood piracy case. The Telugu film industry faces a ₹3,700 crore loss due to leaked films.

Piracy continues to plague Tollywood, causing major financial setbacks. Recently, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police arrested Jana Kiran Kumar from East Godavari for pirating films and uploading HD versions online on the release day. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce reported a ₹3,700 crore loss to the industry in 2024 due to piracy.
Kiran Kumar is accused of leaking around 65 films, selling small film copies for ₹32,000 and big ones for ₹80,000. He faces legal action under multiple sections of the Copyright Act, 1957, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act for his role in the piracy racket. Films like Game Changer and Kannappa were among those affected.
