Veteran Actress Pushpalatha Passes Away at 87
A sad incident has occurred in the Telugu film industry. Senior actress Pushpalatha, wife of actor A.V.M. Rajan, has passed away at the age of 87. She had been facing breathing difficulties due to old age and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. Her family confirmed that she breathed her last on Tuesday evening while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Pushpalatha made her silver screen debut with the 1958 film Sengottai Singam. She later appeared as the lead actress in the 1961 film Kongunattu Thangam and starred alongside actor A.V.M. Rajan in Nanum Oru Penn. They became close friends, and eventually, Pushpalatha married A.V.M. Rajan, and the couple had two children.
Pushpalatha acted in several Telugu films, including Peddha Koduku, Memu Manushulame, Annam Dammula Anubandham, Yugapurushudu, Rajaputra Rahasyam, Sri Rama Pattabhishekam, and Kondaveeti Simham. She also acted alongside NTR in the film Ramu, produced by A.V.M. Studios. Apart from Telugu, she worked in Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films as well. Pushpalatha made her Hindi film debut in 1963 with Main Bhi Lucky Hoon, and later appeared in the Malayalam film Nurse. She acted in over 100 films across various languages. Her last appearance was in the 1999 film Poovasam, after which she retired from acting due to old age. The film industry expressed condolences over her passing. Her daughter Mahalaxmi also acted as a lead in films like Rendu Jella Seetha, Ananda Bhairavi, and Mayadari Madi.
