They married in 1986, and in 1993, rumors surfaced that Aditya was having an affair with Pooja Bedi. Later, it was reported that he had an affair with actress Kangana Ranaut in the early 2000s.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, Zarina shared that despite knowing about Aditya's affairs, she chose not to confront him because she was only concerned about how he treated her at home. She mentioned, "I was aware of Nirmal's affairs, but I never brought it up with him." I only cared about his behavior at home. Asking questions would have made him fearless."

While defending her husband against allegations of abuse, Zarina dismissed the claims made by his ex-girlfriends. She emphasized that Aditya was never abusive towards her and described him as a "sweetheart." She suggested that his exes had made accusations because they did not get what they wanted. Regarding the rumored relationship between Aditya and Kangana, Zarina remained silent, but Kangana had accused Aditya of rape and abuse in 2019.
