Angelina Jolie was moved to tears at the Venice Film Festival when her latest film, Maria, received an eight-minute standing ovation. She wore a custom beige gown by Tamara Ralph with a fur stole for the event. Emotional, Jolie leaned on her co-star Pierfrancesco Favino's shoulder for comfort, and director Pablo Larraín supported her as she ascended the stairs, where she thanked the audience with a bow.

In Maria, Jolie plays opera legend Maria Callas, focusing on Callas’s final week in 1977 Paris. The film, directed by Pablo Larraín and co-starring Pierfrancesco Favino and Alba Rohrwacher, will be released on Netflix, though a release date is yet to be announced.

Jolie expressed deep personal connection to Callas, saying, “I felt privileged to get to know her and be inside her skin. I’ll carry that like a friend.” She described her transformation into Callas, noting how she connected with the private side of the iconic singer. Maria is the third installment in Larraín’s trilogy on iconic women, following Spencer and Jackie.
