Genelia was taken aback when she saw the message the next morning and felt deeply hurt. When Ritesh woke up and called her, she expressed her anger, stating, "What do you think? It’s better if we don't talk anymore."

Ritesh later clarified that the message was meant as a joke for April Fool's Day. Genelia shared that despite the confusion, she considers marrying Ritesh one of the best decisions of her life, and the couple's bond remains strong, even as the story circulates widely.
