Mahesh Babu As Rama In Rajamouli's Upcoming Film?
Mahesh Babu may play Lord Rama in Rajamouli’s upcoming film, inspired by the Ramayana. The film, currently in pre-production, is set to begin shooting in February 2025.

Rajamouli, renowned for elevating Telugu cinema globally, is set to direct Mahesh Babu in his next project. Currently in pre-production, the film is expected to follow a treasure-hunting, Indiana Jones-style storyline with a forest backdrop. However, there’s now a growing rumor that the film could have a plot inspired by the Ramayana, with Mahesh Babu playing the role of Rama.
The buzz stems from a past scene in RRR, where Ram Charan’s character, Alluri Seetharamaraju, was humorously mistaken for Lord Ram in the North. This has led to speculation that Rajamouli might similarly present Mahesh as Lord Rama, possibly in a sequence set in Varanasi. The film’s team is reportedly recreating Varanasi in Hyderabad for this sequence.
Though no official confirmation has been made, sources suggest that regular shooting may begin by the end of February 2025.
