Oscar Nominations 2026 List Released; Indian Films Absent in Major Categories

Oscar Nominations 2026 List

Oscar Nominations 2026 List: The nomination list for the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026) has officially been announced, bringing mixed reactions across the global film industry. Indian cinema faced disappointment this year, as none of the country’s films managed to secure a nomination in any category.

Homebound, which was India’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category, failed to make it to the final nominations. Other Indian films that were eligible through different qualification routes also missed out, marking a complete absence of Indian representation at this year’s Oscars.

Leading the nominations is Sinners, which created history by securing a record 16 nominations — the highest number received by any film in a single year at the Academy Awards. Close behind is One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, with 13 nominations.

Several films followed with strong performances across categories. Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sentimental Value earned nine nominations each. Hamnet secured eight nominations, while Bugonia, F1, The Secret Agent, and Train Dreams received four nominations apiece.

In the Best International Feature Film category, nominations went to The Secret Agent (Brazil), It Was Just an Accident (France), Sentimental Value (Norway), The Voice of Hind Rajab (Tunisia), and Sirat (Spain).

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is expected to take place in Los Angeles later this year.
