Sonali Bendre Clarifies Her Cancer Comments After Debate Over Naturopathy Talk

Actors’ statements often invite unexpected reactions, and something similar happened to actress Sonali Bendre after her recent comments on her cancer journey. Her remarks, which went viral, led to criticism from some medical professionals, prompting her to release a clarification.

Sonali, who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2018, bravely fought the illness and has since become a source of strength for many undergoing similar battles. At a recent event, she mentioned that naturopathy played a significant role in supporting her recovery. Several doctors publicly disagreed with this, stating that there is no proven scientific evidence that naturopathy can treat or reduce cancer.

Responding to the criticism, Sonali clarified her stance, stating that she never claimed to be a medical expert.

“I have never said I am a doctor, nor have I claimed to be one,” she explained. “I went through one of the toughest phases of my life during cancer treatment. I simply shared what I personally experienced and what helped me emotionally and physically. Every cancer case is different, and treatments vary. My intention was only to talk about my journey, not to tell anyone what they must follow. Everyone should choose the safest and most appropriate treatment for themselves. Once again, I want to make it clear — I only spoke about my honest experiences.”

Sonali often opens up about her battle with cancer and how it changed her perspective on life. She added, “Life’s journey should never come to a halt. I am thankful that I survived cancer. Those treatment days were the hardest period I have ever lived through.”
