Taylor Swift Breaks Records At MTV Video Music Awards

Taylor Swift made history at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, setting new records with her latest wins. She took home the Video of the Year award for her song "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, marking her seventh VMA this year and bringing her total to 30, tying Beyoncé for the most VMA wins ever.

Presented the award by VMA host Megan Thee Stallion, Swift expressed her gratitude to her fans and the team behind the music video, including Post Malone, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, and production designer Ethan Tobman.

“Directing this video was an incredible experience, thanks to the amazing team I worked with,” Swift said. “Although the video may seem sad, it was one of the most enjoyable experiences to make.”

She also acknowledged her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, for his support during the shoot. “Hearing him cheer across the studio after every take brought happiness and magic to our shoot,” she shared.

Swift thanked her fans in her closing remarks: “Your support means the world to me and has made my life, the Eras Tour, and The Tortured Poets Department what they are.”

Her victory solidified her record for the most VMA wins in the Video of the Year category, having previously won for "Bad Blood," "You Need to Calm Down," "All Too Well: The Short Film," and "Anti-hero."

Swift also became the first artist to win the VMA for Video of the Year three years consecutively, following wins for "Anti-hero" last year and "All Too Well: The Short Film" in 2022.

As a director of several of her music videos, Swift’s win for "Fortnight" extended her record for the most VMA victories for videos she directed or co-directed. Her previous winning videos include "You Need to Calm Down," "All Too Well: The Short Film," and "Anti-hero."

She triumphed over nominees Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Eminem, and SZA.
