Laapataa Ladies Dominates the Evening

Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies emerged as the highlight of the night, sweeping 13 awards across major categories, including Best Film and Best Director. The film’s creative brilliance was recognized in several other areas such as Screenplay, Dialogue, Music Album, Costume Design, and Background Score. An elated Kiran Rao expressed her gratitude, stating that her film was “definitely not Laapata tonight,” and thanked audiences for their overwhelming love and support.

Special Honors and Recognitions

Veteran legends Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal were presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema. Meanwhile, the R.D. Burman Award for Emerging Musical Talent was awarded to Achint Thakkar for his remarkable work in Jigra and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.
