Family Movie OTT Release Date Announced

Family OTT Release: "Family," a Malayalam drama directed, written, and edited by Don Palathara, has captured attention for its compelling narrative and poignant storytelling. Released in theaters on February 22, 2024, the film explores the intricate dynamics of family, uncovering hidden truths and internal conflicts. Co-written by Sherin Catherine, it delves into the struggles and secrets within family structures.

The movie had its world premiere at the 52nd International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) on January 28, 2023, and was later featured at the 14th Bengaluru International Film Festival. It gained recognition as one of the five nominees for the Young Jury Prize at the 68th Cork International Film Festival, Ireland. Furthermore, Family was selected as one of the two Malayalam films for the International Competition section at the 28th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2023.

Family will be available for streaming on the Manoramamax platform from December 6, 2024. For those who missed its theatrical run, the film will also be available soon on Amazon Prime and Simply South. Stay tuned for updates regarding its digital release.

The story follows Sony, a Catholic man in his late twenties from rural Kerala, who presents himself as compassionate but reveals a much darker side. Some family members discover his wrongdoings but remain silent, shielded by a system that protects men and their secrets. The film portrays the family as a fortress, concealing past transgressions, and explores how the family dynamic mirrors that of a mafia organization when dealing with internal misconduct.

The cast of Family includes Divya Prabha, Vinay Forrt, Nilja K. Baby, Mathew Thomas, Jain Andrews, Abhija Sivakala, Jolly Chirayath, and Sajitha Madathil in prominent roles. The film is directed, co-written, and edited by Don Palathara and produced by Sanita Chittilappilly and Anto Chittilappilly under Newton Cinema. The screenplay is by Sherin Catherine and Don Palathara, with music composed by Basil C. J. and cinematography by Jaleel Badusha.
