Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan Cleared For OTT Release Following Madras High Court Ruling
The Madras High Court has lifted the ban on Thangalaan, allowing the film starring Chiyaan Vikram to proceed with its OTT release. Initially halted due to a PIL, the court dismissed the case.

Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan will now be released on OTT after the Madras High Court lifted a ban stemming from a public interest litigation (PIL) claiming it targeted the Vaishnavite community. Despite positive reviews, the film faced box office challenges and was initially set for an OTT launch before the ban. The PIL has been withdrawn, clearing the way for a possible Diwali release.
The court dismissed the case on October 19, affirming the film’s approval by the Central Board of Film Certification. Producer Gnanavel Raja hinted that Thangalaan might premiere on Netflix during Diwali. The film features Vikram in multiple roles and includes actors like Pasupathi and Malavika Mohanan.
