Ponman Movie OTT Release Date Fix

It is well known that if the content is good, a movie can be a super hit even without star heroes or heroines. In recent times, small-budget films with strong storylines have been achieving great success at the box office. Particularly, Malayalam films have been receiving a good response. One such movie is "Poovan Man" (Phone Man). Released in theaters without much hype or expectations, the film became a success. This dark comedy, which was released on January 30, 2024, features Basil Joseph in the lead role. He previously gained recognition among Telugu audiences with the movie "Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey". The film also stars Sajin Gopu, Lijomol Jose, Anand Manmadhan, and Deepak Parambol in key roles. Directed by Jothish Shankar, the movie is based on the novel "Nalanchu Cheruppakar" and is now set to arrive on OTT.

The movie will start streaming on the popular OTT platform Jio Hotstar from March 14. The makers have officially announced this. Jio Hotstar Malayalam's official Twitter handle shared the news with the caption, "This Golden Man Shines! Phone Man is streaming from March 14." Along with this, an interesting poster was also released. In the Malayalam film industry, Basil Joseph is considered a star as his recent movies have been delivering consecutive hits.

Regarding the storyline, "Phone Man" translates to "Gold Man" in meaning. In this movie, Basil Joseph plays the role of PC Ajesh, who runs an unusual business. He lends his gold to a bride’s family for their wedding, with the condition that they must return the full amount along with the money received at the wedding. However, in one case, he gives a family 25 sovereigns of gold, but they return only 13 sovereigns. When Ajesh demands the remaining 12 sovereigns, a dispute begins with the family. The rest of the film revolves around what happens to Ajesh and how the situation unfolds. The movie will be available for streaming on Hotstar from March 14.
