SP Shakthivel's film Alangu, based on true events near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, is now streaming on Prime Video after receiving positive reviews for its subtle themes of violence and retribution.

SP Shakthivel's recent film Alangu, which was well-received in theatres, is now available on OTT. The film, featuring Gunanidhi in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
Based on true events from the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, Alangu also stars Chemban Vinod and Kaali Venkat, with the title inspired by the Alangu dog breed linked to Chola emperor Rajaraja the Great's war dogs. Appani Sarath and Sreerekha play supporting roles.
Directed by Shakthivel, known for Urumeen (2015) and Payanigal Gavanikkavum (2022), Alangu also benefits from his creative production on Good Night (2023). Praised for avoiding melodrama, the film uses subtle symbolism to explore violence and retribution. Produced by D Sabareesh and SA Sangamithra, Alangu was shot in the forests of Attapadi, Idukki, Anaikatti, Kambam, and Theni, with cinematography by S Pandikumar, music by Ajesh, and editing by San Lokesh.
