Baapu Set for OTT Release: A Gripping Telangana Family Drama

The movie Baapu is set to stream on OTT just two weeks after its theatrical release. Starring Brahmaji, Aamani, and Avasarala Srinivas in key roles, the film is directed by Daya. Sudhakar Reddy, known for Balagam, plays the titular role in this Telangana-based drama. Baapu will be available for streaming on JioHotstar from March 7, as announced by the platform, inviting audiences to experience this family journey.

The story is set in a remote village in Telangana. Mallanna (Brahmaji) is a poor farmer who cultivates cotton on his one-acre land with borrowed money. Due to his son Raju’s (Mani Egurla) negligence, the entire crop is destroyed by heavy rains. As debt collectors demand repayment within a month, threatening to auction his land, Mallanna finds himself with no option but to end his life, hoping the government’s ₹5 lakh farmer insurance would clear some of his debts.

However, his wife Saroj (Aamani) opposes his decision and instead suggests that they kill Mallanna’s father, Rajayya (Balagam Sudhakar Reddy), to claim the insurance money. What happens next? Do Mallanna and his family proceed with their plan? Were they successful or not? This forms the crux of Baapu.
